On-Site Consultation
Prior to the appointment the client will secure a floor plan and a plot plan of the site. If these are not available, then the consultant may draw proportional plans upon arrival. In addition the clients will furnish the complete birth date of the site's occupants. If the consultation is for a work place, then the birth dates of the executive staff, and key employees will be requested. If applicable, the client will also be asked to do some research on previous owners/tenants of the home or commercial space, and their history. It is important to find the reasons for the move, and if possible something about the lifestyle/business of the former occupants. The consultant will explain the tradition of red envelopes. A site consultation will last a minimum of two hours, but in general no more than three hours.

Using an energetic grid called the Bagua, over 63 different elements are evaluated during the actual consultation. Among these are the placement of rooms, doors, windows, adjacent buildings and structures, furniture and accessory arrangement, sizes, colors, textures and the occupants personal energies. If changes are needed, the Feng Shui practitioner will make suggestions to add or to move certain items, remove others or place symbolic objects to balance the site. Clients are encouraged to take notes throughout the process. In all cases the initial consultation will attempt to cover the most pressing issues. A follow-up is recommended after the changes have been enacted but not earlier than six months after the initial visit.
